Kirstie and Tim

Kirstie and Tim's wedding day happened to be a very cold and windy one in Prior Lake, MN! We bundled up the flowers, and braved the cold to make the journey to The Wilds Gold Course. Everything arrived safe and sound and bride, Kirstie was as thrilled with her gorgeous flowers as I was. The elegant blend of deep purple, silver and white was perfect for their January wedding! I couldn't be happier for these two to make their transition into the married life.

Unique floral accents ahead!

Even in the "off season", I've been staying incredibly busy with meeting new brides and grooms and coming up with floral concepts for their weddings. I'm pleasantly surprised (and humbled) by how quickly summer and fall are filling up; I have so many different weddings to look forward to! The design trends for 2014 are steering toward a vintage vibe and one-of-a-kind custom accents to the bouquets and boutonnieres are hotter than ever. Here are a few of the unique accessories I'm looking forward to this bridal season...

Lace and burlap are still the reigning kings of wedding bouquet handles. If you have lace on your wedding dress, be sure to send a picture so we can coordinate the lace on your bouquet with the lace detailing on your dress!

Succulents with a mix of flowers is still one of my favorite accents in a bouquet. It adds a touch of natural whimsy for an unexpected modern take on a wedding bouquet.

I don't think bling in a bouquet will ever go out of style, but I'm loving the rhinestone brooches as a more eye-catching alternative to the smaller gems and sprays.

Hops! Definitely my husband's favorite accents this year, I'll be designing a brew themed wedding bouquet featuring our own homegrown hops.

Vintage milk glass vases will be featured as centerpieces for a vintage baseball inspired wedding this summer. They'll be filled with classic red roses and navy viburnum berry.

If you haven't booked your wedding date with me (or any other florist) my advice to you is to reach out and first find out if your date is open. If it is, schedule a consult and book your date! Florology consults are free and are a great way for me to get to know you and your distinct style and vision. I only book a certain number of brides in one weekend because I take great pride in devoting 100% of my creativity and time to my brides. If you are looking for a one on one experience and stunning unique floral compositions, contact me today to schedule your wedding consult and book your special day!

Color Of The Year 2014

It's that time of year again, Pantone has released their 2014 color of the year... Radiant Orchid!

This year's color is pretty exciting to me; not just because it's named after a flower, but because there are so many flower possibilities with this shade. Here's some that come to mind...

Stock
Dahlia

Freesia
Phalaenopsis Orchids

Not only are there several flowers that come in Radiant Orchid, but so many other colors compliment it as well. I can't wait to experiment and have fun with this one!

Things to consider before meeting your wedding florist.

I was thinking today of the things that make a smooth consult for wedding floral design. I really feel preparation is key and good communication between bride and florist is HUGE! I know it's sometimes hard to take that picture in your head of what you want and expect of your flowers and convey it to your friendly florist. Well, there's an infographic for that!

If you or someone you know is getting married and is interested in discussing your dream floral bouquets, please contact me for a free consult! Also feel free to check out my work at www.florologydesigns.com or give me a "like" on the Florology Facebook page (www.facebook.com/florology) to stay updated!

Shaina and Nathan

When Shaina and Nathan came to pick up their wedding flowers, Shaina stopped dead in her tracks when she saw her wedding bouquet. "I'm obsessed!" she said. Well, I am too! I love how different and unique her concept was for her bouquets. We used garden twine and lace around the handles of all of the bouquets for a natural, whimsical look. I loved going back and forth with Shaina coming up with her one of a kind bouquets! Congratulations to the bride and groom! All pictures were taken by the talented George Day at Metro Style Studios.
